The Giants took advantage of three errors to score three runs, and Kevin Pillar added a home run Wednesday night, accounting for all of San Francisco's scoring in a 4-2 victory over the visiting San Diego Padres to complete a two-game sweep.

Rookie right-hander Shaun Anderson (2-1) won for the second time in his past three starts, limiting the Padres to two runs and four hits in six innings.

Anderson got the better of Padres left-hander Joey Lucchesi (5-4), who pitched well in the second San Francisco Bay Area homecoming of his career but was victimized by a shaky defense.

The Padres led 2-1 before bad defense led directly to two Giants runs in the fifth inning.

Steven Duggar got the rally rolling with an infield single on which shortstop Fernando Tatis Jr. threw the ball errantly, allowing the batter to reach second.

After a second out, Donovan Solano singled to left field, and Duggar raced home when Padres left fielder Josh Naylor committed San Diego's second throwing error of the inning.

Solano reached third on the play, and he scored the Giants' go-ahead run on another infield single to shortstop, this one by Evan Longoria.

Lucchesi was pulled after six innings, charged with three runs (two earned) and five hits. He walked two and struck out six.

The Giants added an insurance run in the seventh, and again a Padres error paved the way. This time, it was pitcher Robbie Erlin who threw the ball away on an infield single by Duggar.

Solano made it a two-RBI game and a two-run lead with a double.

Pillar's home run came in the second inning, a solo shot that opened the scoring. It was his seventh homer of the season.

The Padres got even in the third on an RBI double by Eric Hosmer, then took a brief lead in the fifth when Manuel Margot walked and eventually scored on Naylor's infield out.

Anderson, who was making his sixth start of the season, walked three and struck out six.

Relievers Sam Dyson, Tony Watson and Will Smith took it from there, with Smith surviving a two-out error, a double by Hunter Renfroe and a walk in the ninth for his 16th save.

The Giants closer stranded the potential tying and winning runs by getting Margot to pop out to end the game.

Duggar and Solano had two hits apiece for the Giants, who won the series opener 6-5 on Tuesday night.

The Giants outhit the Padres 8-5.
