Brandon Lowe homered twice among three hits, and Yandy Diaz also went deep and had four hits as the visiting Tampa Bay Rays powered past the Boston Red Sox 6-1 in the finale of a four-game series Sunday.

Tampa Bay hit four homers in the contest, all solo shots. Blake Snell (4-5) gave up one run on five hits and struck out seven in six innings as the Rays took three of four in the key division series.

The Red Sox were held to two or fewer runs in all three losses.

Boston's offense wasted golden scoring opportunities in both the first and second innings against Snell. With runners on second and third and no outs in the first, Snell struck out the next three batters, all on curveballs.

The Red Sox got the first two men on in the second before Snell struck out Sandy Leon and Jackie Bradley Jr. was picked off. But Marco Hernandez came through with an RBI single for Boston's lone run.

After cruising through the next three innings, Snell was forced to pitch around a two-base error by Avisail Garcia in right to begin the bottom of sixth. He got the next three men in order to end his outing.

Diaz and Lowe homered an out apart in the seventh for the 6-1 margin.

The Rays strung together four consecutive hits off Eduardo Rodriguez to begin the game, grabbing a 2-0 lead. Guillermo Heredia's second-inning homer over the Green Monster in left-center field made it 3-0.

Rodriguez settled in from the third through fifth innings, allowing just one batter to reach. But Lowe greeted him in the sixth with a 455-foot blast to center field to give the Rays a 4-1 lead.

Rodriguez (6-4) was tagged for four runs on seven hits over 5 2/3 innings, striking out seven and walking two.

J.D. Martinez (back spasms) sat Sunday and missed the entire series for the Red Sox.
