The Tampa Bay Rays got a second-pitch home run from Yandy Diaz and then dizzied the host San Francisco Giants with a variety of unusual strategies Sunday afternoon en route to a 3-0 interleague victory and a series win.

Christian Arroyo had an RBI single against his old team and five pitchers combined on a five-hitter, sending the Rays to their third series win of the young season.

The Giants lost their third straight series.

Diaz's homer, his third of the season, came off left-hander Drew Pomeranz, who was making his first home start as a Giant.

The Rays made it 2-0 in the fourth when Kevin Kiermaier walked, took second on an infield single by Willy Adames and scored on Arroyo's single.

Pomeranz (0-1) was pulled one batter into what turned out to be a scoreless fifth inning. He was charged with two runs on six hits in four-plus innings. He walked three and struck out five.

The Rays tacked on a run in the eighth against the San Francisco bullpen when Kiermaier tripled with one out and scored on a balk by Nick Vincent.

Right-hander Yonny Chirinos (2-0) pitched five shutout innings to get the win. He limited the Giants to two hits, walked one and struck out five.

Relievers Adam Kolarek, Chaz Roe, Diego Castillo and Jose Alvarado were equally effective both on the mound and off, completing the shutout with four innings of three-hit relief.

Alvarado allowed a hit and a walk in the ninth, but retired Brandon Crawford on a ground ball as the potential game-tying run to record his fourth save.

At one point, Kolarek moved from the mound to first base after allowing a leadoff single to Yangervis Solarte to open the bottom of the seventh.

Roe came on to strike out Evan Longoria, before Kolarek returned to the mound and got the next two hitters to retain a 2-0 lead.

The Rays also used four outfielders on occasion against Brandon Belt, who went 0-for-3.

Kiermeier, Arroyo and Tommy Pham had two hits apiece for the Rays, who out-hit the Giants 10-5.

Solarte, who entered the game as a pinch hitter, had two of the Giants' five hits.
