Scooter Gennett delivered a tiebreaking homer with two outs in the top of the ninth inning to help the Cincinnati Reds register a 9-7 victory over the host Milwaukee Brewers on Tuesday night at Miller Park.

Gennett launched a first-pitch slider from left-hander Dan Jennings (4-5) over the fence in right to give Cincinnati an 8-7 lead. Mason Williams had a run-scoring triple later in the inning to cap the Reds' recovery from a four-run deficit.

Gennett was 2-for-4 with three RBIs to help Cincinnati win for the fourth time in the past five games. Brandon Dixon, Phillip Ervin, Billy Hamilton and Williams also had two hits each as the Reds collected 14 in the game.

Travis Shaw and Jonathan Schoop homered for Milwaukee, which has dropped four of its last six games. The Brewers had 13 hits.

Milwaukee remains three games behind the Chicago Cubs in the National League Central race as well as being in a tight wild-card battle with the Philadelphia Phillies, St. Louis Cardinals and Colorado Rockies for the two spots.

Cincinnati right-handed closer Raisel Iglesias (2-1) blew a save opportunity in the eighth and gave up three hits over 1 2/3 innings. Iglesias allowed singles to Jesus Aguilar and Manny Pina in the ninth before he struck out Keon Broxton on three pitches to end the contest.

Milwaukee right-hander Taylor Williams retired the first two hitters in the top of the ninth before being removed in favor Jennings. After Gennett's blast, Eugenio Suarez singled off right-hander Corey Knebel before Williams tripled to right to provide an insurance run.

Milwaukee trailed by two runs entering the bottom of the eighth before Schoop led off the inning as a pinch hitter and cut the deficit to 7-6 by belting a homer off right-hander David Hernandez. Erik Kratz followed with a single, and one out later, Ryan Braun delivered a game-tying double off Iglesias.

Reds right-hander Sal Romano wound up with a no-decision after losing each of his previous five starts against the Brewers. He allowed five run and seven hits, with two walks and five strikeouts.

Milwaukee right-hander Junior Guerra gave up seven runs -- just two earned -- and 10 hits over 5 1/3 innings. He struck out six and walked one while remaining winless over his last seven outings.

The Reds took a 7-5 lead with a four-run outburst in the fourth inning.

Williams led off with a double and moved to third on Tucker Barnhart's single. One out later, Dixon hit into a fielder's choice to score Williams.

After Romano struck out, Billy Hamilton reached on an infield hit -- the first of three straight by the Reds -- to load the bases. Ervin followed with a liner that struck second-base umpire Hunter Wendelstedt, a play ruled as a single to tie the score.

Gennett's infield hit gave the Reds a 6-5 lead before Hamilton scored on Kratz's passed ball for the final run of the inning.

Milwaukee scored four runs in the first inning on Jesus Aguilar's run-scoring double, Kratz's RBI single and Orlando Arcia's two-run single.

The Reds responded with a three-run third inning with Romano driving in the first run with a single. The second run scored when Brewers right fielder Eric Thames misplayed a single by Ervin before Gennett's sacrifice fly knocked in the third.

Shaw led off the third by drilling a 1-0 changeup over the wall in right to give the Brewers a 5-3 lead.
