Brandon Drury and Niko Kavadas each hit a two-run home run and the Los Angeles Angels pulled away for a 6-2 win over the Minnesota Twins on Monday night in Minneapolis.

Nolan Schanuel also drove in a pair of runs for Los Angeles (60-84), which won the opener of a three-game series. Taylor Ward finished 3-for-4 and drew a walk.

Kyle Farmer hit a solo home run to lead Minnesota (76-68) at the plate. Carlos Santana also drove in a run for the Twins, who dropped their fourth consecutive game.

Angels left-hander Reid Detmers (4-6) limited the Twins to two runs on five hits in six innings. He walked two and struck out eight, and he threw 63 of 97 pitches for strikes.

Twins right-hander David Festa (2-6) surrendered four runs on four hits in four innings. He walked three and struck out four.

Angels southpaw Jose Suarez closed out the game with three scoreless innings. He gave up zero hits, walked one and struck out four to earn his first career save in 96 games (59 starts).

Los Angeles jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the first.

Ward drew a leadoff walk and advanced to third on a ground-rule double by Zach Neto. Moments later, both Ward and Neto sprinted home to score on Schanuel's single to left.

Drury doubled the Angels' lead to 4-0 in the third. He belted a 459-foot two-run shot to left for his fourth homer of the season.

The Twins trimmed their deficit to 4-1 in the bottom of the third. Michael Helman led off with a double to right and scored three batters later on Santana's single to left.

Farmer's solo shot pulled the Twins within 4-2 in the fourth. The two-out blast also marked his fourth homer of the season.

Kavadas finished the power surge with a two-run homer in the sixth to increase the Angels' advantage to 6-2. He faced a full count when he jumped on a slider for the third homer of his rookie campaign.
