Brice Turang belted Milwaukee's fifth grand slam in eight games to back a dominant start by Freddy Peralta and power the Brewers to a 7-1 victory over the visiting Chicago Cubs on Sunday in the rubber game of the three-game series.
Turang's grand slam off starter Kyle Hendricks capped a seven-run fourth that put Milwaukee in front 7-1.
Peralta (6-4) allowed a leadoff homer and a one-out single in the first before holding Chicago hitless over the next six innings. He exited after the seventh and finished with eight strikeouts and two walks in a 103-pitch outing.
William Contreras reached on an infield single to open the Brewers' fourth and Christian Yelich followed with his eighth homer, a 422-foot shot to center.
Jake Bauers drew a one-out walk and advanced when Ian Happ appeared to lose Rhys Hoskins' fly ball to left in the sun for a long single. Sal Frelick followed with an RBI single and Jackson Chourio singled to load the bases. Andruw Monasterio struck out, but Turang then sent a 1-0 pitch over the wall in right for his second grand slam of the season.
Turang came up again with the bases loaded and two outs in the eighth but was called out on strikes.
Hendricks (1-6) allowed seven runs on seven hits in 3 2/3 innings, striking out three and walking one.
Milwaukee, which entered Sunday with a 6 1/2 -game lead in the NL Central, has won nine consecutive home series. The Brewers are 22-6 in their past 28 home games after a 5-7 start.
Nico Hoerner opened the game with his fourth homer, sending the second pitch from Peralta 383 feet to left-center to put the Cubs up 1-0.
Cody Bellinger singled with one out and Happ drew a two-out walk, but Peralta fanned Christopher Morel to end the threat. The only other runner Peralta allowed was a one-out walk in the third.
