Pinch hitter Mitch Haniger singled home the winning run in the bottom of the 10th inning as the host Seattle Mariners defeated the Chicago White Sox 2-1 on Wednesday.

Haniger's hit to right field scored Luke Raley, the automatic runner. Raley homered in the seventh inning to break a scoreless tie.

White Sox pinch hitter Luis Robert Jr. lined the first pitch from Mariners reliever Mike Baumann in the ninth inning just over the left field wall to tie the score at 1-1.

Mariners reliever Trent Thornton (3-1) pitched a scoreless 10th for the victory. Chicago's Steven Wilson (1-3) took the loss.

The Mariners, who have won four in a row, will try for a sweep of the four-game series Thursday. The White Sox have dropped four straight and 18 of their past 20 games.

Right-handers Jonathan Cannon of Chicago and Bryce Miller of Seattle dueled for seven innings, though neither was involved in the decision.

Miller gave up no runs and just two hits -- a one-out infield single by Zach DeLoach in the second inning that glanced off Miller's leg and a leadoff double to left-center by Korey Lee in the third.

Miller got out of the latter jam as Nicky Lopez popped out to third on a bunt attempt, Andrew Vaughn flied out to left and Gavin Sheets fouled out to third.

Miller walked two and struck out eight.

Mariners reliever Austin Voth struck out the side in the eighth.

Cannon, in search of his first major league victory, nearly matched Miller. Facing the Mariners for the first time, he gave up one run on four hits with one walk and seven strikeouts.

Cannon walked Mitch Garver with two outs in the second inning and then allowed a double into the left field corner by Dominic Canzone. Cannon then caught rookie Tyler Locklear looking at a called third strike.

Seattle's Cal Raleigh singled in the fourth and Canzone blooped a single into shallow left in the fifth, but those were the only other hits Cannon gave up until Raley's solo shot to right on a first-pitch changeup with one out in the seventh.
