Bo Bichette had a two-run home run and finished with three RBIs, Chris Bassitt pitched seven scoreless innings and the Toronto Blue Jays defeated the visiting Chicago White Sox 9-2 on Wednesday night.
The victory in the rubber match of the three-game set gave the Blue Jays their first series win since April 19-21, when they took two of three games against the host San Diego Padres.
Bassitt (4-6) allowed five hits and two walks. The right-hander struck out four.
Tommy Pham hit a solo home run for the White Sox, who completed a 1-5 road trip.
Chicago starter Nick Nastrini (0-3) allowed nine runs (eight earned) and seven hits in 3 1/3 innings. He issued six walks and did not record a strikeout after being recalled from Triple-A Charlotte earlier Wednesday.
It was Nastrini's third career major league start.
Toronto sent 10 batters to the plate in the second to take a 7-0 lead.
Justin Turner led off with a walk, and Alejandro Kirk and Kevin Kiermaier singled to load the bases with one out.
With two outs, the floodgates opened. Davis Schneider hit a two-run single to left before Daulton Varsho stroked a two-run triple into the right-field corner to make it 4-0. Vladimir Guerrero Jr. then hit an RBI single ahead of Bichette's two-run blast.
Toronto scored two more times in the fourth. Varsho and Guerrero walked with one out, and Bichette blooped a single to center that scored Varsho. Guerrero also came in on Dominic Fletcher's errant throw to third on the play.
Nastrini was backing up home instead of third, allowing the ball to get away.
Turner then walked, and Tanner Banks replaced Nastrini.
Genesis Cabrera replaced Bassitt to start the eighth and gave up Pham's third homer of the season, a drive to right-center. Paul DeJong added a sacrifice fly later in the frame.
White Sox right fielder Zach DeLoach made his major league debut on Wednesday and went 0-for-3 with a walk.
