Trevor Rogers recorded his first win of the season and a quartet of relievers completed the Marlins' second straight shutout of the host Detroit Tigers as Miami collected a 2-0 victory on Wednesday afternoon.

Rogers (1-6) lasted five innings, giving up three hits and two walks to go along with six strikeouts. Rogers had given up 12 earned runs in 5 2/3 innings over his previous two starts.

Declan Cronin, Andrew Nardi, Calvin Faucher and Tanner Scott finished off the shutout, with Scott notching his fifth save.

Bryan De La Cruz delivered the big blow in the first inning with his ninth homer of the season, a two-run shot.

Carson Kelly led the Tigers' offense with three hits and a walk. Detroit has been blanked five times this year.

Detroit starter Casey Mize (1-2) gave up two runs and two hits while striking out six in six innings. He walked one.

Tyler Holton, Will Vest and Beau Brieske each pitched an inning of shutout relief.

The Marlins grabbed their 2-0 lead two batters into the contest. Jazz Chisholm Jr. reached on an infield single before De La Cruz unloaded a 422-foot blast over the center field fence.

Those were the only hits off Mize.

The Tigers had a baserunner in each of the first two innings and got a bigger threat going in the third. Kelly walked, Andy Ibanez was hit by a pitch and Mark Canha drew a two-out walk to load the bases. Rogers then struck out Gio Urshela to end the inning.

Nick Fortes had a two-out single in the eighth off Vest, Miami's first hit since the first inning. Chisholm then struck out.

In the top of the ninth, Jesus Sanchez walked and Jake Burger singled off Brieske. Dane Myers struck out, keeping the score at 2-0.

Javier Baez had a two-out single in the bottom of the ninth to keep the Tigers' hopes alive. Kelly then hit an 0-2 pitch from Scott for a single to put runners on the corners. Riley Greene struck out on a fastball to end the contest.
