Kevin Newman dropped a two-run single into right field with one out in the ninth inning to give the Arizona Diamondbacks a 6-5 walk-off victory over the Cincinnati Reds on Monday night in Phoenix.

Newman went 4-for-5 as Arizona won for the sixth time in its past eight games. Gabriel Moreno and Joc Pederson homered for the Diamondbacks, who swept three games from the Reds in Cincinnati last week.

The Reds have lost 11 of their past 12 games.

Cincinnati's Alexis Diaz (1-2) hit Lourdes Gurriel Jr. with a pitch to start the ninth. After getting Eugenio Suarez to line out to left, Diaz walked Moreno and Jake McCarthy before Newman's hit gave Arizona the win.

Mike Ford had two hits and two RBIs and Spencer Steer also drove in two for the Reds. Jeimer Candelario added two hits and drove in a run for Cincinnati.

Justin Martinez (1-0) pitched a scoreless ninth for his first career win for the Diamondbacks.

The Diamondbacks took a 4-3 lead in the bottom of the seventh after Suarez delivered an RBI single.

The Reds answered by scoring twice in the eighth. Steer drew a leadoff walk against Kevin Ginkel and moved to second on an infield out. Candelario drilled an RBI single to center to tie it.

Ford followed with a blast off the right-center field fence that hit the padding and caromed back into empty right field for his first major league triple.

Jordan Montgomery allowed three runs and six hits over 5 1/3 innings for the Diamondbacks. He struck out seven and walked three.

Cincinnati's Graham Ashcraft gave up three runs and seven hits over four innings. He struck out three and walked three.

Arizona took a 1-0 lead in the second inning when Moreno hit his first homer of the season.

Cincinnati moved ahead in the third. Santiago Espinal led off with a single and Elly De La Cruz drew a two-out walk before Steer doubled into the right field corner to drive both home.

The Diamondbacks tied it in the bottom of the inning on Pederson's 434-foot leadoff blast to center. It was his fifth homer of the season.

Pavin Smith hit a sacrifice fly later in the inning as Arizona took a 3-2 lead.

The Reds drew even in the sixth as Tyler Stephenson doubled with one out and Candelario and Ford both singled. Ford's hit knotted the score at 3 and ended Montgomery's outing.
