Harold Ramirez went 3-for-4, scored twice and stole a base as the Tampa Bay Rays won for the third straight time, edging the San Francisco Giants 2-1 on Friday night in St. Petersburg, Fla.
Ramirez scored on a bases-loaded walk to Yandy Diaz in the second inning and on a third-inning double by Amed Rosario, who went 2-for-4.
Rays right-hander Jacob Waguespack opened, tossed four innings and allowed one unearned run on four hits. He struck out four and walked two.
Garrett Cleavinger (2-0) fired 1 2/3 scoreless innings, yielding one hit and two walks. He fanned three. Closer Pete Fairbanks handled the ninth inning for his third save in as many opportunities.
San Francisco's Thairo Estrada went 2-for-4 with a double and Jung Hoo Lee singled, stole a base and scored.
Giants starter Keaton Winn (0-3) went five innings and gave up two runs on five hits while fanning six and walking three.
San Francisco manager Bob Melvin was ejected after Jorge Soler was called out on strikes to end the top of the seventh inning.
Each club produced just six hits.
In the bottom of the second, singles by Ramirez, Rosario and Jose Caballero loaded the bases with no outs, but Winn whiffed Jose Siri and Ben Rortvedt. However, the right-hander issued a 3-2 walk to Diaz for the game's first run.
The Giants matched that marker in the second after Lee led off single, stole second and advanced to third on a throwing error by catcher Rortvedt.
After getting a groundout and holding Lee at third, Waguespack threw a wild pitch that made it 1-1.
With two outs in the third and Ramirez on first, Rosario roped a two-out liner to right-center field that rolled to the wall, knocking in the go-ahead run.
On the throw in, Rosario was tagged out going for third, but umpire Jeremie Rehak ruled third baseman Matt Chapman blocked the bag with his foot and awarded Rosario the base. Chapman was charged with an error for interference.
Caballero lined out to third to end the inning.
After Cleavinger's appearance, Phil Maton, Colin Poche and Jason Adam kept it a one-run game through eight frames.
Fairbanks walked Wilmer Flores to begin the ninth, and pinch runner Tyler Fitzgerald stole second and advanced to third on a groundout.
Fairbanks then got Nick Ahmed on a shallow fly to left and ended it with a flyout by Lee.
