Kevin Newman doubled four times and Bryan Reynolds homered and drove in four runs Saturday as the Pittsburgh Pirates snapped an eight-game losing streak with a 14-4 win over the visiting Milwaukee Brewers in Game 1 of a doubleheader.

Jacob Stallings added a two-run single for the Pirates, who erased an early three-run deficit and broke things open with a six-run fifth inning. Four players -- Hoy Park, John Nogowski, Ke'Bryan Hayes and Wilmer Difo -- each had an RBI single for Pittsburgh.

Pirates starter Bryse Wilson pitched four innings, allowing four runs and seven hits.

Chasen Shreve (1-0) picked up the win after striking out three batters in a scoreless fifth inning.

Kolten Wong and Tyrone Taylor homered for the Brewers, who had won four straight.

Milwaukee starter Brett Anderson (4-6) gave up six runs and eight hits in 3 1/3 innings to take the loss.

Wong led off the game with his ninth homer.

In the second inning, Rowdy Tellez singled and advanced to third on Taylor's double before scoring a wild pitch. Manny Pina added an RBI single for a 3-0 lead.

Pittsburgh moved ahead 4-3 in the third inning. Newman, a late addition to the lineup because Anthony Alford had back spasms, doubled and later scored on Park's infield base hit.

Hayes' infield single and Reynolds' walk loaded the bases. Park scored on Colin Moran's groundout, and two more scored on a fielder's choice by Stallings.

With one out in the fourth, Taylor tied it with his 10th homer of the season.

The Pirates regained the lead in the bottom of the fourth. Gregory Polanco singled, advanced to third on a Newman's double and scored and Nogowski's base hit to make it 5-4. Anderson struck out Park and then got pulled for Jake Cousins. Hayes singled, scoring Newman for a 6-4 lead.

Pittsburgh broke it open in the fifth with six runs on six hits, including Reynolds' 21st homer -- a two-run shot to right field.

With infielder Jace Peterson pitching, Reynolds added a two-run single in the sixth.
