Gregory Polanco singled home the go-ahead run in the 10th inning and Bryan Reynolds drove in two more as the Pittsburgh Pirates rallied past the host Milwaukee Brewers 8-5 on Tuesday.
Milwaukee wasted a dominant pitching performance by Adrian Houser, who exited after 6 1/3 no-hit innings.
Pittsburgh's Ke'Bryan Hayes opened the 10th at second base and advanced on Ben Gamel's sacrifice bunt. John Nogowski fouled out to third, but Polanco beat out an infield single deep in the hole to short, scoring Hayes to put Pittsburgh up 6-5.
Kevin Newman singled and Michael Perez walked to load the bases. Reynolds then delivered a two-run single to center.
Blaine Hardy (0-1), who last pitched in the majors in 2019 with Detroit and was called up from Triple-A Nashville on Sunday, pitched the 10th and took the loss in his first appearance with Milwaukee.
David Bednar (3-1) pitched two scoreless innings for the victory.
After getting shut down by Houser, the Pirates broke through against the Brewers' bullpen for five runs in the seventh to erase a 4-0 deficit.
Houser walked Gamel to open the seventh and then retired Nogowski on a foul fly to right. Daniel Norris relieved and promptly allowed a single to Polanco, Pittsburgh's first hit. Newman followed with an RBI double to cut the deficit to 4-1. Perez walked on four pitches to load the bases.
John Curtiss relieved and shortstop Willy Adames booted pinch hitter Reynolds' grounder, allowing Polanco to score and Reynolds to reach base. Hoy Park, acquired last week from the New York Yankees, cleared the bases with a double down the right-field line to put Pittsburgh up 5-4.
Milwaukee tied it in the bottom half. Adames singled to open the frame, and Avisail Garcia greeted reliever Chris Stratton with a two-out RBI double to the gap in left-center.
Houser, who struck out four and walked five, was charged with one run in his 104-pitch outing.
The Brewers took a 1-0 lead in the first on a ground-rule double by Adames and an RBI single by Garcia.
Milwaukee added two runs in the third. Adames opened with his 19th homer. Omar Narvaez followed with a double, and Garcia delivered another RBI single.
The Brewers made it 4-0 in the fifth on Rowdy Tellez's two-out RBI single.
