Alex Cobb allowed one run and four hits over 7 2/3 innings to help the Los Angeles Angels to a 4-1 win against the visiting Baltimore Orioles in the middle game of their three-game series on Saturday night.

Cobb went 7-22 over the past three seasons in Baltimore before he was traded to the Angels on Feb. 2 for minor league second baseman Jahmai Jones.

Cobb (6-3) struck out six and walked one against his former team while taking over the Angels lead in wins. He also improved to 7-2 in his career against the Orioles with a 2.56 ERA.

Jared Walsh had two hits and Phil Gosselin drove in two runs for Los Angeles, which has won five of six following a five-game losing streak.

Baltimore starter Jorge Lopez (2-11) gave up four runs and seven hits in 4 2/3 innings. He struck out four and walked four.

The Angels loaded the bases with nobody out in the first inning and scored on an infield single by Walsh and a fielder's choice groundout by Gosselin for a 2-0 lead.

The Angels put their leadoff batter on base again in the second. Two batters later, Juan Lagares doubled to deep center to drive in Jose Iglesias for a 3-0 lead.

The Orioles scored a run on a fielder's choice ground out by Pat Valaika in the third to make it 3-1.

Walsh just missed a home run with two outs in the fifth, settling for a double, but Gosselin came through with a single over the head of Urias to score Walsh for a 4-1 lead.

Cobb threw four straight shutout innings before becoming the first starter for the Angels to make it into the eighth inning this season. It also marked Cobb's longest start since August 2018.

The Orioles signed Cobb to a four-year, $57 million deal in March of 2018 after he reached double digits in wins in four of the previous five seasons with the Tampa Bay Rays.

Raisel Iglesias pitched the ninth for his 16th save and sixth straight appearance without allowing a base runner.
