A.J. Pollock had the first of four Los Angeles homers as the Dodgers beat the Colorado Rockies 9-4 in Denver on Tuesday night.
Kristopher Negron, Russell Martin and Justin Turner also went deep, and Cody Bellinger had two hits for the Dodgers, who became the first team to reach 70 wins this season.
Julio Urias got the spot start for the Dodgers, going 2 2/3 innings and allowing three runs (two earned), six hits, one walk and striking out three. Casey Sadler (1-0) got the win with 2 1/3 innings of relief, and Tony Gonsolin got his first save with four innings of relief.
Nolan Arenado and Ian Desmond had two hits apiece for the Rockies, who lost for the 18th time in 24 games in July.
The Dodgers wasted little time in jumping on Colorado starter Kyle Freeland (2-9). Pollock homered on the second pitch of the game, his seventh of the season and the third time in his career he went deep to lead off a game.
Los Angeles tacked on two more runs in the first inning. Corey Seager followed Pollock with a single, and one out later, Bellinger singled Seager home. Bellinger later scored on a throwing error by shortstop Trevor Story.
Negron, acquired Sunday from Seattle, hit a homer in his first at-bat with Los Angeles to lead off the second, and Martin went deep on the next pitch. The Dodgers extended the lead in the third when Turner walked, Bellinger doubled and both came home on Tyler White's single.
Colorado got a few runs back in the third with help from Los Angeles' defense. David Dahl tripled to right with one out, and after Story fanned, Arenado doubled to put the Rockies on the board. Daniel Murphy followed with a single to left that Alex Verdugo misplayed and allowed Murphy to reach third. He scored on Desmond's double.
The Dodgers responded in the fourth. Pollock drew a one-out walk, and one out later, Turner homered off Chad Bettis to make it 9-3. It was his 16th of the season.
Garrett Hampson had an RBI double for the Rockies in the ninth.
