Luis Castillo took a no-hitter into the seventh inning, leading the host Cincinnati Reds to a 1-0 win over the Milwaukee Brewers on Thursday afternoon.
Castillo, in his first start since being named a National League All-Star, allowed just one hit and one walk in 7 2/3 innings while striking out nine. He had lost his previous two starts, including one at Milwaukee on June 22.
Keston Hiura's leadoff single in the seventh against Castillo, and Christian Yelich's leadoff double in the ninth were the Brewers' only hits. Raisel Iglesias stranded Yelich at third base for his 16th save.
Jesse Winker had three hits for the Reds and scored the game's only run in the first inning.
The game had a 69-minute rain delay with two outs in the top of the eighth.
The Reds, who took the last three games in the four-game series with Milwaukee, have won five of their past seven.
The Brewers had won three straight before losing three straight.
The Reds strung together four hits against Brewers starter Brandon Woodruff in the bottom of the first inning, with Yasiel Puig's infield dribbler driving in Winker from third base. However, Nick Senzel hit into a double play with the bases loaded to limit them to just one run.
Woodruff (10-3) settled down and allowed only seven hits in six innings. He struck out six and didn't walk a batter.
Castillo (8-3) struck out four in a row at one point, the final out of the top of the first and all three in the second inning. David Hernandez replaced Castillo after the weather delay and got the final out of the eighth.
Iglesias came on in the top of the ninth and yielded Yelich's double to right. Cincinnati's Phillip Ervin reached into the crowd down the left field line to catch a Mike Moustakas foul ball for the first out. Yelich moved to third on a Hiura groundout before Eric Thames flew out to end the game.
The Reds were without Scooter Gennett due to groin tightness, though the infielder could return by Saturday with the team off on Friday.
