Walker Buehler matched a season high with eight strikeouts, and Chris Taylor had a pair of RBI hits as the Los Angeles Dodgers earned a 5-3 victory over the Atlanta Braves on Monday for their eighth consecutive win at Dodger Stadium.
Justin Turner added two hits and Corey Seager scored two runs as the Dodgers improved to 13-4 in their own park, where they have not lost since dropping a 5-0 decision to the Milwaukee Brewers on April 13.
Freddie Freeman and Nick Markakis hit home runs for the Braves, who were coming off a three-game sweep at Miami over the weekend.
Braves starter Kevin Gausman (1-3), who pitched Monday hours after filing an appeal of a five-game suspension, gave up five runs (three earned) on seven hits over 4 1/3 innings. He walked four and struck out six. Gausman received his suspension for throwing a pitch behind the Marlins' Jose Urena on Friday.
One day after Los Angeles closer Kenley Jansen gave up a grand slam in the bottom of the ninth inning to the Padres' Hunter Renfroe in an 8-5 defeat, the Dodgers showed no ill effects early, scoring runs in each of the first three innings.
Seager had an RBI groundout in the first, Alex Verdugo scored on a passed ball in the second, and Taylor and Verdugo each drove in runs in the third. Taylor added an RBI double in the fifth to his RBI single in the third for a 5-0 lead.
Buehler (4-0) was in control until the sixth inning, when Freeman crushed a two-run home run to center field, his seventh. Buehler, who did not walk a batter for the first time this season, also was taken deep by Markakis in the seventh. It was Markakis' fourth of the year.
Jansen was not available to pitch after appearing in all three weekend games at San Diego. Right-hander Pedro Baez pitched a scoreless eighth inning and left-hander Julio Urias pitched a 1-2-3 ninth for his first career save.
