The home runs keep coming for the Los Angeles Dodgers, who got a grand slam from Cody Bellinger and held on for a 6-5 victory Tuesday against the visiting San Francisco Giants.

The Giants scored three runs in the ninth inning and had the tying run on third base with one out, but Dodgers closer Kenley Jansen got Pablo Sandoval to hit into a 6-4-3 double play to end the game.

Bellinger's blast was his fifth of the season, putting him into the National League lead. It was also the 17th of the season for the Dodgers in six games to tie a major league record.

The Giants got a home run of their own from starting pitcher Madison Bumgarner (0-2), who also gave up five runs (none earned) on five hits with two walks and four strikeouts over six innings on the mound. It was Bumgarner's 18th home run of his career and first since 2017 when he hit three.

Other than the Bumgarner long ball, Dodgers starter Hyun-Jin Ryu (2-0) was able to keep the Giants in check. He gave up two runs on six hits over seven innings with five strikeouts and no walks in his second start of the season.

The Dodgers' five-run third inning started when Russell Martin reached base on a Bumgarner throwing error. The left-hander followed that with a four-pitch walk to Ryu, and then Enrique Hernandez delivered an RBI single.

A two-out single from A.J. Pollock loaded the bases before Bellinger sent a blast over the wall in center field.

The Dodgers have now hit home runs in 10 consecutive regular-season games going back to last season and tied a franchise record with a home run in their first six games, matching the same effort form the 1954 Brooklyn Dodgers.

The Dodgers added to their lead in the seventh inning against reliever Nick Vincent, getting a sacrifice fly from Justin Turner to take a 6-2 advantage.

Kevin Pillar, who was acquired by the Giants on Tuesday in a trade from the Toronto Blue Jays, made his San Francisco debut as a pinch hitter in the eighth inning and struck out against Dodgers reliever Caleb Ferguson.

The Giants scored their first run in the ninth inning on a bases-loaded walk to Yangervis Solarte and added two more on a single from Gerardo Parra before Jansen ended it for his second save in two chances.

The Dodgers' bullpen has now given up 20 runs over its first six games.
