Carson Kelly delivered an RBI double in the 13th inning as the Arizona Diamondbacks outlasted the Los Angeles Dodgers 5-4 on Friday in the longest regular-season game by time in Dodger Stadium history.

The 6-hour, 5-minute contest ended when Arizona reliever Greg Holland got Joc Pederson to fly out. The game came five months after Game 3 of the World Series between the Dodgers and Boston Red Sox ended after 18 innings and 7:20 when Max Muncy hit a game-ending home run.

After a pair of two-out walks in the top of the 13th, Kelly blooped a hit down the right field line off Dodgers reliever Yimi Garcia (0-1), who was working his first inning of relief.

Arizona reliever Matt Andriese (1-0) pitched 2 1/3 scoreless innings for the victory, and Holland pitched a shutout 13th with two strikeouts for his first save.

New Dodgers outfielder A.J. Pollock gave his former team fits with a home run among his four hits, and he added three RBIs, but the Diamondbacks had the last laugh.

The Dodgers nearly won the game on multiple occasions. They had two runners aboard in the eighth and ninth innings and did not score. They followed that by loading the bases in the 10th, but Andriese escaped when he fielded Pollock's comebacker behind his back for the last out.

The game was delayed briefly after 11 innings when plate umpire Scott Barry left the game. Berry was hit in the mask by a 93-mph fastball in the 10th inning. Third base umpire Brian Gorman took over behind the plate.

The Diamondbacks tied the game twice in the late innings against right-hander Joe Kelly, who was making his Dodgers debut.

Pinch hitter Christian Walker hit a three-run home run in the seventh inning off Kelly to tie the score 3-3.

After the Dodgers went ahead again in the bottom of the seventh on Corey Seager's RBI single, Arizona came back against Kelly again, tying it 4-4 when Ketel Marte had an RBI groundout, beating out the Dodgers' double-play attempt that would have ended the threat.

Pollock not only hit his first home run in a Dodgers uniform in the second inning, he also scored on Seager's RBI single as Los Angeles lost one day after their eight home runs set a major league record for a season-opening game.

Dodgers starter Ross Stripling delivered 5 1/3 scoreless innings. Arizona starter Robbie Ray had an up-and-down outing, recording nine strikeouts but also walking five batters. He allowed three runs on three hits.
