Seattle scored twice in the seventh inning to snap a 3-3 tie. The Mariners loaded the bases with no outs against Miguel Castro (2-3), and Heredia scored when the right-hander bounced a wild pitch to Mitch Haniger.

Haniger followed with a sacrifice fly to center that gave the Mariners a 5-3 lead

Seattle starter Felix Hernandez (7-6) ended a three-start winless streak. He gave up three runs on four hits in six innings, struck out four and walked three.

Edwin Diaz closed the game in the ninth and earned his 28th save.

Andrew Cashner started for Baltimore and also allowed three runs on four hits in six innings but came away with a no-decision. He gave up two runs on three hits in the first two innings but just one run on one hit after that.

Jean Segura returned to the Seattle lineup after missing the last four games with an infection in his right forearm. He went 0-for-3 but drew two walks.

The Orioles activated Tim Beckham from the 60-day disabled list after a groin strain and subsequent surgery in late April. He took over at third base and went 0-for-4.

Seattle took a 2-0 lead with a two-out rally in the second. The Mariners loaded the bases, and Gordon then lined a two-run single to left-center.

Jonathan Schoop led off the bottom of the fifth with a solo homer for the Orioles that cut the lead to 2-1. Span answered with a solo homer in the sixth that gave the Mariners a 3-1 lead.

But the Orioles tied it with two in the bottom half. Trey Mancini (force play) and Schoop (groundout) each drove in a run that tied the game.

Orioles right-hander Darren O'Day and manager Buck Showalter both got tossed in the top of the ninth after arguing with home plate umpire Stu Scheurwater when he called a balk.
