Blue Jays 8, Yankees 3: Adam Lind homered and drove in four runs to pace a 13-hit attack as host Toronto won the opener of a three-game series.

Dioner Navarro drove in a pair of runs and Melky Cabrera had two hits, an RBI and two runs scored for the Blue Jays, who rolled despite playing without right fielder Jose Bautista (hamstring) and third baseman Brett Lawrie (finger). Marcus Stroman (4-2) easily made the support hold up, limiting New York to one run on three hits while striking out seven in eight dominant innings.

Mark Teixeira hit a solo homer in the fourth and Yangervis Solarte broke an 0-for-28 slide with an RBI single in a two-run ninth for the Yankees. Chase Whitley (3-1), who had won three straight starts, gave up eight runs on 11 hits and three walks in 3 1/3 innings as New York lost its third in a row.

Lind's RBI single gave Toronto a lead in the first inning and the hosts broke out for six more in the second. After RBIs by Jose Reyes and Cabrera, Lind crushed a three-run shot to center to make it 6-0.

Navarro capped the rally with a run-scoring double and answered Teixeira's home run with a base hit to plate Lind in the fourth for an 8-1 advantage. Stroman, who lasted only 3 2/3 innings in Yankee Stadium in his previous outing, retired the side in order four times and allowed just one hit - a single - following the Teixeira shot while recording the longest start of his career.
