Yankees 6, Mariners 3: Derek Jeter went 3-for-4 with two RBIs and two runs scored in his final game in Seattle as New York completed a three-game sweep.

Jacoby Ellsbury hit a two-run homer and Alfonso Soriano added a two-run double for the Yankees, who have won five of their last seven games. Jeter, who is retiring after the season, went 7-for-12 with four runs scored in the series.

Chase Whitley (2-0) allowed two runs and five hits in 7 2/3 innings to win his second straight start. Seattle’s Roenis Elias (5-5) was roughed up for six runs, six hits and three walks in 3 1/3 innings.

Jeter singled in the first and scored on Ellsbury’s blast over the right-center field fence. Logan Morrison hit his first homer of the season in the second to get Seattle on the board and Soriano responded with a two-bagger in the third to make it 4-1.

Jeter’s two-run single to right in the fourth increased New York’s lead to 6-1. James Jones had a run-scoring single in the fifth for Seattle and Morrison smacked a run-scoring double in the ninth before David Robertson was called on and struck out the final two batters for his 16th save in 18 opportunities.

GAME NOTEBOOK: Ellsbury went 1-for-3 and scored twice while extending his hitting streak to 16 games before leaving with right hip tightness. … Seattle recalled DH/1B Jesus Montero from Triple-A Tacoma and placed OF Michael Saunders (shoulder) on the 15-day disabled list. … Yankees C Francisco Cervelli (hamstring) could be activated from the disabled list during the road series that begins Friday against the Oakland Athletics.
