Phillies 7, Mets 2:
Jerome Williams continued his resurgence and Marlon Byrd homered on his 37th birthday as Philadelphia posted a road victory over New York.

Wiliams (5-5) worked into the seventh inning in improving to 3-0 with a 2.03 ERA since joining the Phillies off waivers earlier this month. The journeyman right-hander was supported by a 12-hit attack that included three hits from Cody Asche, three RBIs from Ryan Howard and two hits apiece by Carlos Ruiz and Jimmy Rollins.

Mets starter Bartolo Colon (12-11) surrendered six runs and nine hits over 5 1/3 innings. Matt den Dekker had two of New York's five hits and also scored a run.

Byrd's opposite-field home run - his career-high 25th of the season - put the Phillies ahead 1-0 in the fifth. Philadelphia then added five runs in the sixth on Howard's two-run single and RBI base hits by Domonic Brown, Ruiz and Asche.

New York inched within 6-2 in the seventh as Wilmer Flores delivered an RBI single against reliever Justin DeFratus, who later walked Juan Lagares with the bases loaded to force in another run. All of that damage was charged to Williams, who allowed two runs and four hits in 6 1/3 innings with three walks and three strikeouts.

GAME NOTEBOOK: Byrd's previous career high of 24 home runs was set last season, which he split between the Mets and Pirates. ... Williams, who struggled with the Astros and Rangers earlier this season, has allowed no more than two runs in any of his four starts with the Phillies. ... Four Philadelphia relievers combined to record the final eight outs, including Ken Giles, who pitched a perfect eighth, and Jonathan Papelbon, who worked a 1-2-3 ninth.
