Phillies 5, Mets 4: Ryan Howard capped a four-hit night with the go-ahead single in the top of the ninth inning to propel visiting Philadelphia past New York.

The Phillies put together a two-out rally against Kyle Farnsworth (0-3) in the ninth, starting with a walk to Jimmy Rollins, which was followed by Chase Utley's base hit and Howard's line drive into center field. Jonathan Papelbon issued a two-out walk in the bottom of the ninth to Daniel Murphy, who stole second base but was stranded when David Wright fouled out to first base.

Rollins finished 3-for-4 with four runs scored while Utley drove in a pair of runs for Philadelphia, which has won two in a row at Citi Field following a stretch of six losses in eight games. New York, meanwhile, fell to 1-8 in its last nine contests despite three hits and three RBIs from Wright.

After the Phillies took a 2-0 lead against Dillon Gee in the top of the first inning, Wright tied things in the bottom half with his second homer of 2014. Philadelphia went back in front on Rollins' second-inning blast and maintained the lead until New York scored twice in the sixth, including an RBI double by Wright.

After Scott Rice took over for Gee, Rollins reached on an infield single with one out in the seventh and scored the tying run on Utley's double. The Mets had a great chance to regain the lead in the eighth as Mike Adams (2-1) allowed back-to-back singles to open the frame and Chris Young sacrificed the runners along before Adams recovered to strike out Eric Campbell and retire Bobby Abreu on a comebacker to the mound.
