Tyler Lyons, who was recalled from Triple-A Memphis on Monday, allowed two runs and six hits in six innings in his 2014 debut for St. Louis. Matt Carpenter, Allen Craig and Yadier Molina each went 2-for-4 but the rest of the lineup was 0-for-19 with seven strikeouts as the Cardinals fell to 4-4 on their 11-game road trip.

Eric Young Jr. singled with two outs in the bottom of the third and Curtis Granderson was hit by a pitch from Lyons (0-1) before Wright knocked a broken-bat base hit to left to plate the game's first run. Daniel Murphy scored on d'Arnaud's single with one out in the sixth and Scott Rice got the last out of the seventh after Mejia walked the final two men he faced.

Carlos Torres gave up a one-out double to Craig in the eighth before striking out Matt Holliday and Matt Adams to escape. Farnsworth allowed a leadoff hit to Molina in the ninth but got Jhonny Peralta to ground into a 5-4-3 double play and Jon Jay to ground to second.
