Twins 6, Rays 4 (12): Chris Colabello singled home a pair of runs in the top of the 12th inning and belted a two-run homer as visiting Minnesota outlasted Tampa Bay to even the series at a game apiece.

Joe Mauer reached on an infield single to lead off the 12th and moved to third on Trevor Plouffe’s double before both scored on Colabello’s base hit up the middle. Former Ray Sam Fuld and Chris Herrmann also recorded two hits, Casey Fien (3-0) pitched 2 1/3 hitless innings and Glen Perkins notched his fourth save with a perfect 12th.

Desmond Jennings collected three hits, stole two bases and scored twice while Matt Joyce knocked in two runs for the Rays, who saw their seven-game winning streak against the Twins at home come to an end. Josh Lueke (0-1) allowed two runs on four hits over two innings to suffer the loss.

Joyce knocked in a run in the first and the third with a groundout and sacrifice fly, and Colabello tied the game in the fourth when he hammered a 1-0 changeup over the center-field wall. The next three batters reached for the Twins and they seized a 4-2 lead after a sacrifice fly by Eduardo Escobar and an RBI single by Fuld.

Evan Longoria’s infield hit brought home a run in the fifth inning and Ben Zobrist forged a tie at 4 with a sacrifice fly in the sixth for the Rays. Tampa Bay’s Grant Balfour escaped a two-on, one-out jam in the top of the ninth and Fien got Wil Myers to ground out with two out and the bases full in the bottom of the frame.

GAME NOTEBOOK: Colabello tied Kirby Puckett (1994) for the franchise record with 26 RBIs in March and April combined. … Fuld, who spent the last three seasons with the Rays, was making his debut for the Twins after being claimed on waivers Sunday. … Tampa Bay starter Jake Odorizzi yielded four runs on five hits and three walks with five strikeouts over 3 1/3 innings while Minnesota’s Mike Pelfrey gave up four runs (three earned) on six hits and three walks in five-plus innings.
