Yankees 9, Angels 2: Derek Jeter homered and scored two runs in his final regular-season game at Angel Stadium and New York won the rubber match of the three-game series.

Mark Teixeira sparked the Yankees’ five-run first inning with a two-run double off Hector Santiago (0-6), who was pulled after allowing six runs (two earned) over 2 1/3 innings. Jeter snapped a 161-at-bat homerless streak with a two-out blast in the second, and the Yankees improved to 16-1 when leading after six innings.

Southern California native Vidal Nuno (1-0) retired 13 in a row at one point and yielded one run on four hits over a career-high 6 1/3 innings for the Yankees. Rookie C.J. Cron had three hits, but manager Mike Scioscia was forced to use five relievers after Santiago's early exit for the Angels, who were held to six hits and lost for the fourth time in their last six games.

Jacoby Ellsbury walked to open the game and Jeter followed with a fly ball that was dropped by Collin Cowgill after he collided with Mike Trout in right-center field. Carlos Beltran walked to load the bases and Teixeira doubled to begin the scoring before Brian Roberts capped the five-run outburst with an RBI single.

The Angels trailed 6-1 when they loaded the bases with two outs in the seventh, but Dellin Betances retired Cowgill on a liner to center field to end the threat. Yangervis Solarte, Brett Gardner, John Ryan Murphy, Jeter and Ellsbury each had two hits for the Yankees, who added two runs in the eighth on Murphy’s RBI single and Carlos Beltran’s sacrifice fly.

GAME NOTEBOOK: Jeter, who went 5-for-11 in the series, received a personalized paddleboard in a brief ceremony before the game. … Angels 1B Albert Pujols went 0-for-4 with two strikeouts to snap his seven-game hitting streak. … Yankees DH Alfonso Soriano went hitless in five at-bats with three strikeouts, while Angels LF Raul Ibanez snapped an 0-for-18 slump with a pinch-hit single in the seventh.
