Marlins 4, Mets 3: Casey McGehee delivered an RBI single with one out in the bottom of the ninth inning as host Miami rallied for four runs in the final two frames to steal the opener of its three-game series.

Christian Yelich singled to lead off the ninth against Scott Rice (0-1), moved to second on a sacrifice and came home without a throw when McGehee dribbled a base hit to right field on an 0-2 pitch from Gonzalez Germen. Giancarlo Stanton and Jarrod Saltalamacchia had RBIs during a three-run rally in the eighth that spoiled a fantastic start by Mets left-hander Jonathon Niese.

Niese scattered five hits and struck out six in seven scoreless frames to lower his ERA to 1.82. He was given early support with solo homers by Daniel Murphy and Curtis Granderson in the first and a sacrifice fly by Bobby Abreu in the fourth that made it 3-0.

Daisuke Matsuzaka took over for Niese in the eighth and promptly walked the first two batters before giving up a hard single to center by Stanton that got Miami on the board. McGehee followed with a liner that shortstop Omar Quintanilla could not handle, allowing a second run to score, and Saltalamacchia crushed a double into the right-center field gap to plate Stanton with the tying run.

Marlins starter Nathan Eovaldi allowed three runs while striking out a career-high 10 in seven innings. Brad Hand pitched the eighth and Steve Cishek (2-1) worked around a one-out walk in the ninth before notching the win when Miami rallied in the bottom half.

GAME NOTEBOOK: Niese was 0-for-3 at the plate, extending the Mets' modern-era record for hitless at-bats by pitchers to 54. ... Granderson finished 2-for-4 and is 9-for-23 during his six-game hitting streak. ... Miami improved to 6-1 on its nine-game homestand.
