Nationals 9, Marlins 2: Tyler Moore and Sandy Leon homered in support of Jordan Zimmermann as Washington handed host Miami its eighth straight loss.

Anthony Rendon doubled, tripled and drove in three runs while Leon's first career homer highlighted a four-run seventh inning as the Nationals halted a three-game skid. Zimmermann (1-0) bounced back from a rough outing last time out, scattering two runs and six hits while striking out seven over seven solid innings.

Garrett Jones' solo homer in the sixth inning provided the lone offensive highlight for the Marlins, who fell to 0-7 against National League East foes. Starter Brad Hand (0-1) was torched for five runs on eight hits over three innings of work.

After Bryce Harper tripled home the opening run in the first, Moore doubled the advantage in the second with a shot that bounced off the top of the right-field wall and over for his first home run of the year. Rendon tacked on two more runs later in the frame with a double down the left-field line that brought home Danny Espinosa and Leon.

Reed Johnson put Miami on the board in the bottom of the second with a run-scoring single, but Espinosa responded in the third with a triple into the gap in right-center field that scored Ian Desmond. Jones' blast into the right-field seats made it 5-2, but Moore countered with an RBI single in the seventh, Leon belted a two-run shot to right field two batters later and Rendon added a run-scoring triple to cap the onslaught.

GAME NOTEBOOK: Harper went 3-for-4 to push his average to .348. ... The Nationals were without CF Denard Span, who is on the seven-day disabled list with concussion symptoms. ... Hand has surrendered eight runs in 6 1/3 innings in back-to-back starts versus Washington.
