Astros 9, Royals 3: Chris Carter had two homers and a season-high four RBIs and George Springer went deep for the sixth time in as many contests as Houston routed host Kansas City to stretch its campaign-best winning streak to five games.

Carlos Corporan went 3-for-4 with an RBI and Dexter Fowler drove in two runs as the Astros won for the 10th time in 15 games. Springer reached base three times, scored twice and had two RBIs to continue his torrid play.

Jarred Cosart (4-4) allowed two runs (one earned) and four hits in five innings to win for the third time in four starts. Three relievers yielded three hits over the final four innings and the Astros outscored Kansas City 21-5 while sweeping the three-game series.

Springer hit a two-run shot in the first off Danny Duffy (2-5) and Fowler stroked a two-run bases-loaded single in the second. Corporan delivered a two-out double in the third to make it 5-0 before the Royals got on the board on Alcides Escobar’s fourth-inning RBI double.

Carter hit his first homer in the fifth to make it 6-1 and his three-run blast an inning later increased Houston’s edge to 9-2. Kansas City's Brett Hayes homered in the seventh for his second straight hit after opening the season with 27 consecutive hitless at-bats.

GAME NOTEBOOK: Springer extended his hitting streak to 10 games and the rookie has nine homers and 23 RBIs in May. … Duffy allowed six runs (five earned) and seven hits in four-plus innings while losing for the fourth time in five starts. … Houston SS Jonathan Villar went 0-for-4 and is hitless in his last 21 at-bats.
