Astros 9, Mariners 4: Rookie George Springer homered twice and had five RBIs, and Brett Oberholtzer struck out eight to win for first time in seven decisions this season for visiting Houston, which recorded a season high in runs.

Jose Altuve had two hits, scored twice and drove in a run while Marc Krauss and Jonathan Villar added RBIs for the Astros, who broke it open with a five-run second inning - highlighted by Springer's two-run homer - en route to snapping a four-game losing streak. Oberholtzer allowed three runs (two earned) in six frames.

Robinson Cano had two hits and has reached base in 31 straight games - the longest active streak in the majors - while Kyle Seager, Michael Saunders and John Buck drove in runs for the Mariners. Brandon Maurer (1-3) yielded six runs and six hits in 4 1/3 innings, lowering his ERA against Houston to 14.54 in four starts.

Altuve led off the game with a walk and Springer, who missed the previous two games with a right hip flexor strain, drove the next pitch over the wall in right-center. Seattle tied it in the bottom half when it loaded the bases with one out and Stefen Romero scored on a fielder's choice grounder to first by Seager, and Cano trotted home when Krauss' throw went into left field.

Villar's run-scoring fielder's choice grounder started the scoring for Houston in the fifth and Villar came all the way around from first on a hit-and-run single down the right-field line by Altuve. Springer recorded his first multi-homer game by belting a 1-1 pitch out to left and Krauss' two-out single drove in Dexter Fowler.

GAME NOTEBOOK: The Astros are 16-13 when they homer and 2-19 when they do not. ... Altuve, who leads the major leagues with 68 hits, is 7-for-12 in the series ... The Mariners fell to 12-7 against left-handers.
