Marlins 10, Rockies 1: Jose Fernandez pitched six strong innings and Casey McGehee knocked in four runs with a pair of doubles as Miami pulled away from visiting Colorado in the season opener for both teams.

Marcell Ozuna recorded three hits, including a solo homer, and Adeiny Hechavarria collected three singles and an RBI while scoring twice for the Marlins. Giancarlo Stanton added a pair of hits and plated two runs while Fernandez (1-0), the 2013 National League Rookie of the Year, yielded just one run on five hits with nine strikeouts.

Carlos Gonzalez, who belted a solo homer in the sixth, and Michael Cuddyer each had two hits to lead the Rockies. Jorge De La Rosa (0-1), who finished last season by winning six straight decisions, allowed five runs on four hits over 4 1/3 innings with six strikeouts.

Fernandez gave up two straight one-out hits in the first inning before retiring the next 10 batters, including all three in the third on strikeouts. Ozuna gave him a lead in the third as he began the frame by lining a 3-1 pitch from De La Rosa just inside the left-field foul pole.

The Marlins broke it open in the fifth inning as Ozuna led off with a double to left and came home on Hechavarria’s single up the middle. Miami loaded the bases with one out before Stanton brought home a run against reliever Wilton Lopez with an infield single, and McGehee followed with a three-run double down the left-field line to make it 6-0.

GAME NOTEBOOK: Fernandez, who matched Josh Beckett (2004) for the most strikeouts in a season opener for the Marlins, is 10-0 at home in his short career. … Colorado SS Troy Tulowitzki (0-for-4) tied OF Larry Walker for second with eight Opening Day starts for the Rockies, eight behind all-time leader Todd Helton. … Miami Dolphins Hall of Fame QB Dan Marino threw out the first pitch.
