Blue Jays 7, Tigers 3: Juan Francisco and Brett Lawrie hit back-to-back homers to back a solid start by J.A. Happ as visiting Toronto capped a three-game sweep with its fifth consecutive win.

Melky Cabrera had a solo shot, Erik Kratz a two-run single and Dioner Navarro a run-scoring hit for the Blue Jays, who have won 14 of their last 16 games overall and 11 of their last 12 on the road. Happ (5-2) allowed three runs in 6 1/3 innings to improve to 3-0 away from home and get the best of struggling Detroit right-hander Justin Verlander.

Verlander (6-5) was reached for six runs - five earned - and eight hits with a season high-tying four walks in seven frames. The former MVP and Cy Young Award winner is 2-3 with a 6.75 ERA over a span of five starts for the Tigers, who have dropped five in a row and nine of 13.

Ian Kinsler's RBI triple and Torii Hunter's sacrifice fly gave Detroit a 2-0 lead in the third, but Toronto had a quick reply, loading the bases with one out in the fourth before Navarro's base hit made it 2-1. Kratz then bounced the next offering from Verlander through the left side of the infield to plate a pair.

After another RBI by Kinsler tied it in the fifth, Francisco yanked a two-run shot over the wall in right in the sixth and Lawrie smacked a belt-high fastball out to left moments later to make it 6-3. Chad Jenkins worked 2 1/3 scoreless innings in relief of Happ, Cabrera went deep for the 10th time with two outs in the ninth and Casey Janssen got the last out with two on to record his 10th save.

GAME NOTEBOOK: Blue Jays 1B Edwin Encarnacion was out of the lineup after exiting Wednesday night's game due to back tightness. ... Tigers SS Eugenio Suarez, one of the top prospects in the organization, was expected to make his first career start but held out after injuring his left knee sliding into second base Wednesday. ... Toronto returns home to begin a three-game series against St. Louis on Friday, while Detroit hosts Boston.
