Dodgers 6, Reds 2: Scott Van Slyke homered twice among his three hits and drove in four runs as visiting Los Angeles won the opener of the four-game series.

Justin Turner added an RBI single in the fourth and Dan Haren (6-4) tossed 5 1/3 solid innings for the Dodgers, who have won three of four versus Cincinnati and three of their last four overall. Matt Kemp scored twice and Van Slyke also walked on two occasions to reach base safely in all five of his plate appearances.

Van Slyke opened the scoring by jumping on a 3-2 fastball from Tony Cingrani (2-7) and depositing it well over the wall in center field to lead off the second inning. Van Slyke, who scored on Tim Federowicz's sacrifice fly in the fourth, continued his stellar night by drilling a fastball from Cingrani over the wall in left for a three-run shot that staked Los Angeles to a 6-2 advantage.

The second blast led to the departure of Cingrani, who fell to 0-5 since returning from shoulder tendinitis. The 24-year-old permitted six runs on seven hits in 4 2/3 innings.

Haren overcame a pair of wild pitches that led to Brayan Pena scoring in the second as well as Ryan Ludwick's homer to lead off the fourth. The right-hander allowed two runs on five hits for his first win since May 12 and Brandon League worked out of a bases-loaded, no-out jam in the eighth before Kenley Jansen struck out two in the ninth.

GAME NOTEBOOK: Los Angeles RF Yasiel Puig went 1-for-4 in his return to the lineup, two days removed from straining his right hip flexor while attempting to break up a double play. ... All six of Van Slyke's homers this season have come against left-handed pitchers. ... Cincinnati SS Zack Cozart nearly forged a 1-1 tie in the second, but his bid for a home run landed inches foul down the left-field line. However, the blast set off fireworks to designate a home run at Great American Ball Park, although a crew-chief review quickly confirmed that the ball landed in foul territory.
