Indians 7, Twins 3:
Yan Gomes went 3-for-4 with a homer and four RBIs as visiting Cleveland remained in the race for a playoff berth.

Mike Aviles drove in a pair of runs and Michael Bourn added an RBI for the Indians, who climbed within 3 1/2 games of Kansas City for the second American League wild-card spot. T.J. House (4-3) posted his third straight victory, allowing two runs and six hits over five innings to improve to 3-0 lifetime against Minnesota, and Marc Rzepczynski notched the final four outs - three by strikeout - for his first save of the year.

Brian Dozier doubled, homered and scored two runs for the Twins, who had their three-game winning streak snapped. Jordan Schafer and Kennys Vargas each recorded an RBI while Trevor May (3-5) was tagged for seven runs and eight hits in 4 2/3 frames.

Cleveland jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the second inning as Aviles delivered a two-out, two-run triple and scored on Bourn's infield single. Minnesota got back a run in the bottom half, loading the bases with no outs before settling for only an RBI fielder's choice by Schafer.

Gomes restored the three-run advantage with a run-scoring single in the third, but Vargas plated a run with a groundout in the bottom of the inning to keep the Twins within two. Gomes put more distance between the division rivals in the fifth with a two-out, three-run blast that ended May's evening.
