Indians 4, Twins 2: Josh Tomlin pitched 6 2/3 solid innings in his first start since 2012 and host Cleveland snapped a three-game slide against Minnesota.

Nick Swisher had two hits and an RBI while Yan Gomes and Michael Brantley each drove in a run for the Indians. Tomlin (1-0), who underwent Tommy John surgery on Aug. 21, 2012, allowed one run and four hits before Marc Rzepczynski recorded the final out of the seventh with runners at first and third.

Chris Colabello delivered a solo homer and Eduardo Escobar added an RBI double among his two hits for the Twins, who had their three-game winning streak snapped. Samuel Deduno (0-2) yielded four runs (three earned) and six hits in five innings in his first start of the season for Minnesota.

The Indians took a 2-0 lead in the first as Brantley delivered an RBI single and scored two batters later when first baseman Colabello let David Murphy's little roller go through his legs with two outs. Cleveland extended the margin to 4-0 in the second after Gomes delivered a run-scoring double and scored on Swisher's two-out single.

Tomlin allowed only back-to-back singles in the second to Kurt Suzuki and Escobar before Colabello lifted a 2-1 pitch over the wall in left-center in the seventh. Cleveland's Scott Atchison struck out two in the eighth and Bryan Shaw yielded Escobar's double after a two-out error extended the ninth before earning his first save of the season.
