Cubs 7, Mets 4: Anthony Rizzo blasted a go-ahead home run in the seventh inning and starting pitcher Travis Wood homered and drove in three runs as host Chicago finished its first three-game sweep of New York since April 23-25, 2004.

Darwin Barney added two hits and scored three times for the Cubs, who wrapped up their first series sweep since taking three in San Francisco from July 26-28. Rookie Neil Ramirez worked a perfect ninth for his first career save with closer Hector Rondon getting the night off after having pitched in back-to-back games.

Wilmer Flores went 2-for-5 and scored a run and Andrew Brown hit a two-run homer for the Mets, who went 4-for-30 with runners in scoring position in the series and stranded 31 runners. Mets rookie Jacob deGrom failed to record a quality start for the first time in five career outings, allowing four runs and five hits over five innings.

The Cubs grabbed a 3-0 lead in the second when Luis Valbuena scored on Eli Whiteside's sacrifice fly and Wood followed with his eighth career homer, a two-run blast. Wood added an RBI fielder's choice in the fourth to make it 4-0, and he worked out of a bases-loaded jam in the fourth and stranded two runners in the fifth to preserve the margin.

The Mets clawed back with two in the sixth on RBI singles from Ruben Tejada and Chris Young and tied it on Brown's two-run blast off Justin Grimm (2-2) in the seventh, but Rizzo answered in the bottom of the frame by launching a 3-1 fastball from Vic Black (1-1) into the bleachers in right-center. Junior Lake added a pair of insurance runs in the eighth, slicing a triple into the gap in right-center to score Barney and Emilio Bonifacio.

GAME NOTEBOOK: Valbuena initially was called out at the plate in the second, but the call was overturned after the Cubs challenged that Valbuena got his hand in before the tag. … Mets RF Curtis Granderson went 1-for-4 and drew a walk and has reached base in 18 consecutive games. … Rizzo scored the winning run in all three games in the series.
