White Sox 6, Tigers 2:
Avisail Garcia drove in two runs and Adam Eaton scored twice as Chicago earned a split of the four-game series with visiting Detroit.

Carlos Sanchez drove in a run and scored twice while Jose Abreu and Conor Gillaspie each added an RBI for the White Sox, who won for the third time in 13 games. Jose Quintana (7-10) went seven innings to earn the win, allowing two runs on six hits to snap a five-start winless streak.

Ian Kinsler doubled in a run and scored for the Tigers, who dropped a half-game behind the first-place Kansas City Royals in the American League Central. Rick Porcello (15-9) fell short in his bid to become the first 16-game winner in the AL and was knocked around for six runs – three earned – on 11 hits in 6 2/3 innings.

Chicago got to Porcello in the first inning when Eaton led off with a double and scored on Gillaspie’s ground single to left. Dayan Viciedo followed with a grounder to short that Eugenio Suarez bobbled and Gillaspie was ruled safe at second after a review that allowed a second run to score.

The White Sox put runners at second and third in the next inning and scored both on back-to-back errors before Garcia’s single capped the three-run rally and made it a 5-0 lead. Detroit got two runs back in the sixth on Kinsler’s double and Victor Martinez’s RBI single, but Garcia doubled in another run in the bottom of the frame and Chicago held on.

GAME NOTEBOOK: Tigers 1B Miguel Cabrera (sore right ankle) was held out of the lineup and is day-to-day. … The White Sox traded veteran DH Adam Dunn to the Oakland Athletics in exchange for minor-league RHP Nolan Sanburn and cash. Andy Wilkins made his major-league debut in place of Dunn and went 0-for-4 with three strikeouts. … Abreu went 1-for-4 to extend his hitting streak to 12 games.
