White Sox 9, Twins 5: All-Star Jose Abreu became the first major leaguer to reach 30 home runs as visiting Chicago registered 17 hits in a win over Minnesota.

Abreu clubbed a three-run shot before an out was recorded in the first inning and also singled and scored in the third for the White Sox, who have taken the first two contests of the four-game series. All-Star Alexei Ramirez and Tyler Flowers also homered while Dayan Viciedo finished 4-for-5 with an RBI.

John Danks (9-6) made the early run support hold up, allowing four runs on six hits while striking out five in seven innings. Twins starter Kevin Correia (5-13) was no match, giving up seven runs - six earned - and 10 hits in just four frames as Minnesota fell to 2-6 since the All-Star break.

Adam Eaton and Ramirez singled to begin the game before Abreu launched a long drive over the wall in center field for a quick 3-0 lead. Ramirez led off the third with a solo shot to left and Abreu scored on an error later in the frame to make it 5-1.

Adam Dunn and Viciedo recorded RBI singles in the fourth and Conor Gillaspie added another in the sixth for an 8-1 bulge. Chris Colabello drove in a pair of runs with a base hit in the Twins' half of the frame, and both Oswaldo Arcia and Josh Willingham added late solo shots to make it a respectable margin.

GAME NOTEBOOK:
Abreu extended his hitting streak to 15 games and became the first White Sox rookie to hit 30 home runs since Ron Kittle in 1983. In 89 games, he is the third-fastest player to 30 homers in major-league history, trailing Rudy York (79) and Mark McGwire (84). ... Twins All-Star C Kurt Suzuki had a single and a sacrifice fly in the loss. ... Viciedo was hitless in 13 at-bats over his previous three games.
