Yankees 14, Red Sox 5: Yangervis Solarte drove in four runs and scored twice as visiting New York pounded rival Boston to take the rubber match of the three-game set.

Mark Teixeira homered, Jacoby Ellsbury drove in three and Derek Jeter added two RBIs for the Yankees, who benefited from the Red Sox committing five errors. CC Sabathia (3-2) allowed two runs on three hits in six innings while striking out eight to pick up the win.

Felix Doubront (1-3) lasted 2 2/3 innings and was charged with seven runs - three earned - on six hits for Boston. Jonny Gomes doubled in a run and David Ortiz delivered a sacrifice fly for the Red Sox, who had left fielder-first baseman Mike Carp pitch the ninth inning - leading to another run on five walks.

Doubront retired the first two hitters he faced before Xander Bogaerts’ error allowed Carlos Beltran to reach and Alfonso Soriano followed with an RBI double. The Yankees added three runs in the second after Dustin Pedroia was charged with an error on a transfer play and Solarte, who doubled in two after the error, scored on a wild pitch.

Teixeira led off the third with a homer to left and Brian Roberts and Ellsbury each added an RBI single before Doubront was lifted. The Red Sox got on the board in the third with two runs, but Brock Holt’s error helped load the bases with one out in the seventh and New York added five more runs to put the game away.

GAME NOTEBOOK:
Boston RF Shane Victorino (hamstring) was activated off the 15-day DL and made his season debut, going 1-for-5. … Yankees RHP Shane Green made his major-league debut in the seventh inning and surrendered three runs - two earned - on three walks while recording one out. … The Red Sox finished up their homestand with a 3-4 mark and will kick off a three-game trip at Toronto on Friday while New York will head home to host the Los Angeles Angels.
