Orioles 5, Yankees 0: Bud Norris struck out a season-high 10 in seven innings and Alejandro De Aza delivered a pair of RBI triples as Baltimore completed a doubleheader sweep of visiting New York.

Ryan Flaherty doubled in a run and Delmon Young added two RBIs as the Orioles cut their magic number to clinch the American League East to five. Norris (13-8) scattered three hits and two walks for Baltimore, which took the opener 2-1 in 11 innings and holds an 11 1/2-game lead over Toronto in the division.

Bryan Mitchell (0-1) allowed two runs on six hits and two walks over five innings in his first major-league start for the Yankees, who fell five games behind Detroit in the race for the second AL wild card. Chris Young, who provided the team’s lone run with a homer in the opener, recorded one of New York’s four singles in the nightcap.

David Lough walked leading off the fourth and moved up on a groundout before coming around to score on Flaherty’s double to left-center field. De Aza found the other gap after the second out, sending a line drive to the wall in right-center for his sixth triple and a 2-0 lead.

Yankees right-hander David Phelps walked the bases loaded in the seventh and Delmon Young made him pay with a single to right that scored a pair. Tommy Hunter stranded a runner at third in the eighth to maintain the shutout and De Aza’s triple high off the wall in right in the bottom of the frame plated the final run.

GAME NOTEBOOK:
Yankees 3B Chase Headley, who was hit in the chin with a fastball on Thursday, sat out both ends of the doubleheader. … New York SS Derek Jeter went 0-for-4 and is 1-for-21 over his last six contests - and hitless in the last four. … The Orioles started former Yankee Kelly Johnson at third base in the opener and had Jimmy Paredes there in the nightcap after learning earlier in the day that Chris Davis was suspended 25 games for testing positive for an amphetamine.
