Indians 9, White Sox 8 (Game 2):
Nick Swisher hit a solo homer to cap a four-run rally in the ninth inning as visiting Cleveland stunned Chicago to complete a sweep of a doubleheader.

The White Sox scored a pair of runs in the eighth to take an 8-5 lead before bringing in closer Addison Reed (3-1). Michael Bourn’s RBI single trimmed the deficit and Asdrubal Cabrera scored on a passed ball before Jason Kipnis’ sacrifice fly tied the game.

Swisher followed by driving a 3-2 fastball out to right to put the Indians on top. Matt Langwell (1-0) picked up his first major-league win in relief and Vinnie Pestano struck out the side in the ninth for his sixth save for Cleveland, which slugged its way to a 19-10 triumph in the opener.

Cleveland's lead sat at 5-2 in the sixth, when Chicago got to starter Carlos Carrasco and loaded the bases before Alejandro De Aza doubled to slice the deficit to one. Carrasco got the second out before handing it off to left-hander Rich Hill, who left an 0-2 curveball over the plate for Adam Dunn to deposit into shallow center for a go-ahead two-run single.

Cleveland carried over its offensive onslaught from the first game of the doubleheader with a four-run first inning. Kipnis knocked the last of three straight singles into left-center for the first run, and three more came across on a bases-loaded walk, a passed ball and a sacrifice fly to cap the uprising.

GAME NOTEBOOK: Carrasco was charged with six runs and 10 hits in 5 2/3 innings, while Chicago starter Jose Quintana gave up five runs - four earned - and five hits in six frames. … Kipnis’ single extended his hitting streak to 11 games. … White Sox 1B Paul Konerko (back) sat out both ends of the doubleheader after receiving six injections earlier in the day. He hopes to return before the end of the series.
