Giants 7, Padres 3: Juan Perez and Brandon Belt each blasted two-run homers and Ryan Vogelsong tossed six strong innings as host San Francisco won the opener of the three-game series.

Perez came within a triple of hitting for the cycle and Hunter Pence added a solo homer for the Giants, who won for the ninth time in their last 13 games. Vogelsong (4-6) yielded two runs on five hits and recorded his first victory since Aug. 25.

The Giants broke a 2-2 tie in the third when Belt followed Tony Abreu’s leadoff single with a home run into the right field seats off rookie Burch Smith (1-3), who surrendered six runs over 5 2/3 innings. Buster Posey struck out before Pence snapped an 0-for-27 skid with his career-high 26th homer.

Logan Forsythe hit a pinch-hit leadoff homer in the ninth off Javier Lopez and Jedd Gyorko went 3-for-4 with an RBI for San Diego, which trailed 6-2 after Gregor Blanco drew a bases-loaded walk in the sixth. The Padres loaded the bases in the eighth with no outs, but Santiago Casilla struck out Jesus Guzman and induced Nick Hundley to ground into an inning-ending double play.

Perez, who went 3-for-4 with two runs scored, hit a two-run blast in the second for his first major league homer. Blanco and Abreu added three hits apiece for the Giants, who secured their third-straight winning season series against San Diego.

GAME NOTEBOOK: Pence received the Giants’ Willie Mac Award in a pre-game ceremony. The award, named for Giants great Willie McCovey, is given to the team’s most inspirational player. … Giants 3B Pablo Sandoval returned after missing Thursday’s game with the flu and went 0-for-3. … Padres SS Ronny Cedeno missed his fourth straight game after being hit in the helmet with a pitch Monday.
