Pirates 5, Phillies 3: Brandon Inge's pinch-hit single broke a tie in the eighth inning as visiting Pittsburgh rallied from a two-run deficit after Philadelphia removed starter Roy Halladay.

Pedro Alvarez homered and had two RBIs, Starling Marte added an RBI triple and Wandy Rodriguez allowed three runs in 5 2/3 innings for the Pirates, who trailed 3-1 after six innings. Vin Mazzaro (1-0) retired all four batters he faced and Jason Grilli pitched a scoreless ninth for his major league-leading ninth save.

Chase Utley and Ryan Howard hit solo homers for the Phillies, who have scored three or fewer runs in 14 of their 22 games. Halladay allowed one run, one hit and struck out eight while throwing 95 pitches in six innings in his second straight dominant start.

The Phillies scored first when Utley delivered a solo shot into the second deck in the first inning and made it 2-1 on Howard's homer in the fourth. Philadelphia increased its lead to 3-1 after Kevin Frandsen pinch-hit for Halladay and delivered a two-out RBI single in the sixth.

Alvarez's homer in the seventh cut the lead in half before Travis Snider's RBI single in the eighth off Mike Adams (1-2) tied the game. After Andrew McCutchen followed with a walk, Inge greeted Jeremy Horst with his second run-scoring hit in his first two games with Pittsburgh since starting the season on the disabled list.
