Brewers 4, Phillies 3:
Jean Segura homered and scored a pair of runs as Milwaukee held off Domonic Brown and visiting Philadelphia.

Ryan Braun recorded three hits and an RBI while Jonathan Lucroy and Carlos Gomez each plated a run for the Brewers, who have taken two straight after dropping the series opener. Tyler Thornburg (1-0) came on to notch the win in relief and Francisco Rodriguez picked up his fourth save.

Brown homered and drove in all three runs for the Phillies, who dropped back below .500 at 31-32.

Brown snapped a two-game homerless drought by blasting a 3-1 fastball from starter Tom Gorzelanny out to right-center field for his National League-leading 19th blast. The Brewers got back the run in the third, when Segura sent his ninth homer to left-center off Kyle Kendrick (6-4).

Milwaukee took the lead in the sixth on Lucroy’s RBI double and made it 3-1 when Gomez followed with a run-scoring single to left. Braun’s RBI base hit in the seventh provided some valuable insurance, as Brown made it a one-run game in the eighth when his double plated Michael Young and Kevin Frandsen.

GAME NOTEBOOK: Kendrick was charged with three runs and eight hits while striking out six in six innings. Gorzelanny yielded a run and five hits over his four frames. … Young spent his third straight game in Philadelphia’s leadoff spot and went 3-for-4. … Segura added his 17th stolen base, moving him into second place in the NL.
