Mariners 2, Angels 1: Michael Morse homered with one out in the eighth inning to lift Seattle over visiting Los Angeles and give the Mariners their first series victory of the season.

Morse smacked a fastball from former Mariners pitcher Jason Vargas (0-3) 394 feet over the left-field fence for his seventh homer to snap a tie and give Seattle its third win in the four-game series.

Jason Bay hit a game-tying homer to lead off the seventh and Tom Wilhelmsen pitched a perfect ninth for his eighth save in eight opportunities. Carter Capps (2-1) struck out three in two shutout innings of relief.

Los Angeles took a 1-0 lead in the sixth on an unearned run against Hisashi Iwakuma. Andrew Romine singled to right and was on second base when Mike Trout hit a bouncer that shortstop Robert Andino misplayed to allow Romine to score.

Vargas allowed two runs and six hits in eight innings and struck out seven. Iwakuma struck out eight in six innings while giving up three hits and no walks.

GAME NOTEBOOK: Mariners 3B Kyle Seager went 0-for-4 to halt a career-best 16-game hitting streak. … Los Angeles placed LHP Sean Burnett (forearm) on the disabled list and activated scheduled Monday starter Tommy Hanson off the bereavement list. … Seattle OF Michael Saunders (shoulder) could be activated from the disabled list on Monday.
