Dodgers 1, Pirates 0: Clayton Kershaw threw seven scoreless innings and host Los Angeles continued its recent domination of Pittsburgh.

Kershaw (2-0), who threw a four-hit shutout in the season opener against the Giants, allowed two hits, struck out nine and walked one before he was lifted for a pinch hitter in the seventh. Dodger pitchers have combined for three shutouts through the first five games, while the Pirates have scraped together six runs in their first five.

The Dodgers took a 1-0 lead in the third inning after Carl Crawford reached on an infield single with two outs off Pirates starter A.J. Burnett (0-2), stole second and came home on a ground ball base hit to left by Mark Ellis. Crawford, acquired from the Red Sox in a blockbuster trade last summer, has seven hits in his first 16 at-bats with the Dodgers.

Burnett walked the lead-off batter in the first and fourth innings, and the Dodgers loaded the bases with one out in the sixth off Burnett and reliever Jared Hughes but couldn’t capitalize. Dodger hitters are 6-for-46 with runners in scoring position this season.

Kershaw allowed a single to Pirates left fielder Starling Marte to open the game then retired the next 17 batters. The string was broken when Marte reached on an infield single with two outs in the sixth.

GAME NOTEBOOK: The Pirates have lost eight straight at Dodger Stadium and 30 of their last 37. They haven’t won a series against the Dodgers since 2000. … Matt Kemp, the No. 3 hitter for the Dodgers, ended an 0-for-22 streak dating to last season with an RBI double in the seventh inning of Friday’s 3-0 victory, but went 0-for-4 with three strikeouts and hit into a double play Saturday. … The Dodgers traded P Aaron Harang to the Rockies on Saturday in exchange for C Ramon Hernandez, a former All-Star.
