Astros 9, Angels 7:
Matt Dominguez hit a grand slam to cap a six-run rally in the fifth as host Houston continued its reign over Los Angeles.

Jose Altuve added a three-run homer and Trevor Crowe singled in a pair for the Astros, who improved to 10-7 to clinch a season-series win over the Angels. Dallas Keuchel (6-9) was knocked around for six runs on 10 hits but struck out nine in 5 2/3 innings and Josh Field earned his fifth save to help give Houston its fourth straight win.

Mark Trumbo tripled in two runs and Chris Iannetta hit a solo homer for Los Angeles, which had a three-game winning streak come to an end.

The Angels jumped on top with Trumbo’s triple in the third but the Astros responded in the bottom of the frame as Altuve drove a 3-1 changeup from Jason Vargas (8-7) into the first row of the Crawford boxes in left. Iannetta’s 10th home run tied it up in the fourth and Los Angeles jumped on top again on Andrew Romine’s RBI single.

The Astros loaded the bases on three singles in the fifth before Crowe’s single gave them back the lead. Brandon Laird was hit by a pitch to reload the bases before Dominguez belted a first-pitch fastball from Vargas out to left-center to make it a 9-4 gap.

GAME NOTEBOOK: The Angels are one of only two AL teams against which the Astros enjoy a winning record (4-3 over the Chicago White Sox). … Vargas was charged with eight runs on nine hits in 4 1/3 innings, the second time in the last three starts he has surrendered at least five earned runs. … Los Angeles CF Mike Trout went 0-for-2 with three walks, an RBI and a run scored, dropping his batting average to .334. He is second in the AL behind Detroit’s Miguel Cabrera (.348).
