Blue Jays 8, Tigers 6: J.P. Arencibia lined a one-out, three-run double as visiting Toronto scored four times in the seventh inning to take the lead and held on to beat Detroit.

Mark DeRosa also knocked in three runs while Edwin Encarnacion recorded a pair of doubles and an RBI for the Blue Jays, who trailed 6-1 through five innings. Reliever Aaron Loup (1-0) earned his first career victory and Casey Janssen notched his second save with a 1-2-3 ninth.

Jhonny Peralta collected three hits and an RBI to lead Detroit. Tigers starter Rick Porcello allowed only one run through five innings but was touched up for three straight hits and three runs without retiring a batter in the sixth.

Detroit had no trouble with Toronto starter Mark Buehrle, who allowed seven hits and six runs – five earned – in 4 1/3 innings. Torii Hunter and Peralta had RBI singles while Victor Martinez and Andy Dirks worked bases-loaded walks as the Tigers scored four times in the fifth inning.

Encarnacion recorded his RBI double and DeRosa followed with a two-run pinch-hit double to pull Toronto within 6-4 in the sixth. Melky Cabrera’s one-out single started the rally in the seventh and three straight walks by reliever Brayan Villarreal (0-1) set up Arencibia’s decisive drive to the left-center field gap off Octavio Dotel for an 8-6 lead.

GAME NOTEBOOK: Rain delayed the start of the game two hours and 29 minutes. … Detroit 2B Omar Infante was 0-for-15 against Buehrle coming into the contest before singling in two trips to the plate against him. … The Blue Jays claimed OF Casper Wells off waivers from the Seattle Mariners on Wednesday. Wells, a former Tiger, is expected to join Toronto for the next series at Kansas City on Friday.
