Indians 6, Royals 3: Michael Brantley belted two solo homers and knocked in three runs as Cleveland rallied to beat visiting Kansas City and claim the rubber game of the series.

Brantley, who came in 1-for-18 in his previous five games, doubled his home run total for the season and added a sacrifice fly to cap a three-run sixth inning. Mike Aviles contributed two RBIs for the Indians and Justin Masterson (9-5) allowed two runs and nine hits over 6 1/3 innings to earn the victory.

David Lough and Eric Hosmer each recorded three hits and an RBI for the Royals, who saw their four-series winning streak end. Kansas City starter Luis Mendoza (2-4) yielded four runs on four hits in five-plus innings.

Elliot Johnson’s RBI single gave the Royals a 1-0 lead in the fourth and they doubled the advantage in the fifth on Lough’s two-out, run-scoring single. Brantley, who also homered in the eighth inning, led off the fifth with a blast just over the right-field wall that cut the lead to 2-1.

The Indians, who did not have a hit the first four innings, ended Mendoza’s night in the sixth by sending nine batters to the plate en route to a 4-2 lead. Aviles’ RBI single tied the game, Mendoza issued a bases-loaded walk to Carlos Santana to put the Indians ahead and Brantley added a sacrifice fly off reliever Tim Collins.

GAME NOTEBOOK: Santana is 4-for-6 and has knocked in nine runs with the bases loaded this season. … Johnson stole his 11th base in 11 tries in the fourth inning for the Royals. Hosmer swiped two and is 7-for-10 in 2013. … The Indians lead the majors with 21 homers and 69 runs in the fifth inning.
